Death of Grandfather Georg Ludwig Feick

I was pleased to find this copy of the death notice of grandfather Ludwig Feick. I was even more pleased that after WWII the Germans gave up that really fancy but almost impossible to read (for me anyway) Germanic script! An added bonus is that the notary was obviously left handed which made this document even easier to decipher.

• the death was reported by his son Walter Feick who now resides in Groß Bieberau.
• additional details of his death unknown but cause of death was rectal cancer
• signed by the civil servant with the date of the commission of his notary

It is amazing the vast amount of family information on this one document. However as I find other documents for earlier family members I realize I am going to have to study up on that old fancy German script.

A sad footnote: As I searched for hubby's grandfather's death record I came upon other records. I had thought grandfather Ludwig was possibly an only child as I never heard any mention of him having siblings. I came across two other death records now 100 years old. Ludwig had two brothers. Peter and Karl. At 22 and 25 years of age they both were "gefallen" (killed in action) in 1917 just months within each other. World War I, was called the "War to End All Wars". Well that sure didn't happen did it?
