Great Grandmother Hindel

This first photo was in the possession of my sister in law and she knew it was her maternal grandmother as a young girl pictured with her mother. She knew her grandmother's name as Therese Hindel because although she had never met her, she had been named for her. The great grandmother? Her first and maiden name was unknown.

Aunt Margret gave me the second photo identifying it as "Franz's mother and Otto's and Liesel's Oma". In spite of the years between this was obviously the same woman. Question #1 Who is Franz? "Otto's mothers brother." Question #2 And her name? "Oma Hindel, that's all I know."

I  researched the name Hindel in what I guessed would be the appropriate time frame of her birth with no luck, mainly because there were many many Hindel women born in that area of Germany in that time frame. Then I received a surprise email. It was from a woman in Germany who had seen a wedding photo I had posted online and recognized her parents as the bridal couple. She also recognized the name Feick and questioned who I was. Long story short,  I had been contacted by my mother in laws cousin, the daughter of Franz. She was able to tell me that great grandma Hindel's name was Wilhelmine Kilian. An added bonus was that she told me that her father Franz had been named for his father. Wilhelmine Kilian Hindel's husband was Franz Hindel. Cousin Brigitte had given me the info to now trace not only her birth but follow that line up many many generations through online Worms, Rheinland-Palatinate, Germany civil records.
